I’ve been wanting to try this place for quite some time, so when I was aimlessly wandering around the LES looking for a lunch spot, I was pleasantly surprised when I turned the corner and found The Fat Radish.
The decor was perfect, the waiting to be seated was not. But nevertheless, we spent the time playing DrawSomething and Foodspotting photos of the dishes at this place. Time well spent in my opinion.
By the time we sat, we knew exactly what we were ordering, what was gluten-free and who we were splitting with.
We started with:
The Fat Radish Plate (gluten-free): Big ol plate of veggies and side of rice. The description said it included brussels sprouts, but I only counted about 2 on the plate, which meant we were ordering an additional side of sprouts:
Brussels Sprouts (gluten-free): Not my fave sprout dish. Most importantly, they were not cut in half, which made them rather crunchy (not a good crunch) in the inside.
Also attending our brunch:
Farm Egg Soft Scramble w/ broccoli, ouray cheese (gluten-free without the toast): I tried a bite and thought it was decent.
All Greens Omelette w/ ricotta cheese (gluten-free): I ordered egg white and thought it was great.Never had ricotta in an omelette and thought it was a nice touch.
Sauteed Forest Mushrooms w/ scallions & poached egg (gluten-free without the toast): Again, not my dish but feel free to take a gander because sans bread, this sucker is certified GF.
And last but not least:
Buttermilk Biscuit w/ cheddar & dill: Clearly not my order, but this thing looked amazing. I would have devoured it had I been able to.
That’s all folks.

Rating: B+
Pros: Locally sourced veggies, farm fresh and easy to eat healthy.
Cons: Limited menu and would be awesome if they offered gluten-free bread of some sort.
