As much as I’d love to be on a yacht cruising around Mykonos, my day job and bank account take priority over my day dreams. So what to do when you’re yearning for a taste of the Mediterranean but confined by the limits of Manhattan? Grab a taste of Greece at Thalassa in TriBeCa.
Chef Ralpheal Abrahante is serving up an array of contemporary Greek dishes including an abundance of fresh seafood; so fresh that they even have it on display when you walk in:
Fresh fish is not the only decor they have going on. The place is beautifully designed; boasting 18 foot ceilings, and a 40 foot long wine cellar downstairs.
I recently attended a press dinner at Thalassa. The best part about these dinners? You don’t need to decide what to get because it’s chosen for you. And, my dishes are confirmed gluten-free by the chef and servers.
That being said, we were served:
Overall the food was delicious. So good in fact I passed on dessert (a rare occasion).
Pros: Beautiful ambiance. Tons of gluten-free options. Fresh seafood.
Cons: If you live uptown like me, it’s a hell of a commute
