The Grey Dog

With so many delicious restaurants/cafes in the Nolita/SoHo area, it is rare that I frequent one particular spot. That is, of course, unless you are The Grey Dog’s Cafe. With several locations throughout NYC, the are rather easily accessible and a must go, especially if you are gluten-free. With salad, sandwiches, burgers and omelets, there is something for everyone. And as a bonus, they have gluten-free bread – so all their sandwiches can be made for the Celiacs/gluten intolerant. Can’t decide between a salad & a sandwich? Get both – with their salad/sandwich combo:   Yes, that would be the GF bread. And here is the same salad plus...

Spain Round-Up

The world is a massive place; one that I can only hope to one day uncover to its fullest extent. I try to take it one day at a time and my most recent venture brought me to Spain – Mallorca, Ibiza and Barcelona to be exact.   I packed my bags and brushed up on my Espanol, specifically a phrase I would be using a lot: es esta sin gluten? Yup, you guessed it: is this gluten-free? I had my handy gluten-free Spanish notecard ready just in case someone did not know what gluten was, but the Spanish seemed fully equipped to handle my requests. In an effort to keep things easy, I stuck to orders I knew were gluten-free normally, and threw back my gluten cutter pills...

Sugar Factory

Sugar Factory

What do you get when you mix watermelon vodka, tropical fruits and Red Bull filled gummie bears? Well, besides a sugar high…a signature cocktail at one of the Meatpacking’s newest spots.  Enter the Sugar Factory; the Las Vegas American brasserie that’s your dentists worst nightmare.   If you’re looking for dessert, candy and anything & everything sweet, then this is your spot.  On the other hand, if you’re anything like me, the aforementioned criteria is not a top priority when dining out. While my friends went straight to the candy cocktails, I stuck with my vodka soda. As for our meal?   Sounds healthy.   My dull...

Raymond’s

Raymond’s

Mother’s Day would not be complete without a cheesy Hallmark card, a bouquet of flowers and a brunch reservation. This year, instead of having my mom haul into the city, we bravely bus’ed it to the garden state (aka New Jersey) and made our way to Raymond’s in Montclair.   Raymond’s does not take reservation so I was a little skeptical of having a long wait to be seated, especially since my Saturday night hangover was starting to set in. Maybe because it was Jersey or maybe because everyone else decided to make a reservation elsewhere - our wait was only about 20 minutes. Ample time for a gift exchange with mom and some photo ops with the...

Little Prince

Little Prince

Situated on Prince St. in SoHo, the restaurant honors its block by reflecting it in its name. But that’s not the only reference here. Little Prince or Le Petit Prince is also the name of a French book by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. And, with more than 140 million copies sold, it happens to be one of the best selling books worldwide. A French restaurant on Prince St. Quite a play on words if you ask me.     Chef Paul Denamiel (of Le Rivage) did a wonderful job transforming this spot into a quaint French bistro with open air doors – perfect for the Spring that has finally arrived in NYC. Being that it just recently opened, I am sure the menu...
